I was going to be rooming with Xap and my youngest son Jared. A couple of weeks before Xap informed me that Lizzie was looking for a place to crash. By this time we had talked quite a bit, and even got up on stage with each other at Capricorn earlier that year.

I had a considerable crush on her.

Not being stupid I said sure, that would be fine with me. Being stupid I was still under the impression that she would never be interested in me. Hey, I had seen the Cap photos, and I still didn’t get it.

We talked a lot Friday night after Jared and Xap had fallen asleep. To be fair, I talked a lot. I was a little nervous as we were going to be sharing a bed that night. Hey, it’s a con.

Saturday night I retreated back up to the room to have some food (someone, I don’t remember who, made a Pita Inn run, it might have been me) and decompress a bit. Lizzie asked me if she could join me. Once again, not being stupid, I said yes. Being stupid … well you know …

We have both told the story many times. She said “you don’t get it do you?” I said “Get what?” She got out the construction paper and crayons and drew diagrams.

And I realized that she was interested in me. It takes some people longer than others.

The next day, as I was packing up the car to go home, I said to her “you’ve given me a lot to think about”. A couple of weeks later we decided to meet up at Strollers in St Louis, but that is a story for later.

I keep thinking that I can’t feel any stronger for her than I do already. I am proved wrong in that over and over.

I adore you my fabulous Lizzie Crowe.

A few friends of ours, particularly mine, had doubts that it was going to work. We knew they were wrong.

12 years ago we had the quick, legal marriage. We still consider the wedding at Musecon to be the real wedding.

But we wanted it to be legal, mostly for insurance.

Two musician friends, Isaac and John, were our witnesses. Oddly enough, they both worked on our first CD, and John on the second as well.

My intense love made the judge tear up a little. She can have that effect on people.

We had been involved for 8 months.

12 years on, we are still ridiculously in love, even more than then. We found out over lockdown that we really do like being around each other 24 hours a day. I wish I could work from home full time, rather than occasionally. I miss her when I am in the office. We love our little house, wonderful geek haven that it is.

Now I should get back to pretending to be doing something as work. I have two more years here. At that point my social security payments will be sufficient for me to quit. The idea of being home with my wife, our cats, and all of our instruments, is a marvelous one. Soon.

In the meantime, another wonderful year with the love of my life. Life could not better be.

When Charles takes our scribbles from email, and our babbles in person and creates a ceremony that shows who we are in every way, he rocks!
When Sara makes a stealth tie dye cake, she rocks!
When my son Ian takes on so much for us this weekend, including being my Best Man, he rocks!
When Ron makes us tie dye sheets, he rocks!
When Karen makes it possible for most of the wedding party to shoehorn itself into con suite, she rocks!
When Bert becomes our very own MIB, and gets us from place to place, he rocks!
When Lexie takes two beautiful ladies and makes them even more beautiful, she rocks!
When Gary Craig, the glorious storyteller that he is, charms everyone I know, he rocks!
When Stephanie Dawson keeps my love sane, all while maintaining sanity on her own, she rocks!
When Andy plays us a lovely piece of music, he rocks!
When S00J sings for us, she rocks!
When my son Jared gets the best gag of the day (and it was his idea), he rocks!
When Chas, Adam, Erik and Gary conspire with me (and I know I forgot someone), they rock!
When my daughter smiles and beams and charms and chats with everyone, and is as lovely a flower girl as it possible to be, she rocks!
When Daniel takes my faulty gear and give us music, he rocks
When K makes it possible for the music to continue, he rocks!
When Celia helps us both focus and relax, and prompts folks to take the place of the missing music, she rocks!
When Lexie, Ian, Leah, Xap, Raven and Teresa are up there for us, they rock!

And when all of you laugh and cry and share this moment with us ... we can never thank you enough! The love you showed us this weekend, we are honored to be this loved by so many. Thank you.

We will be performing in Ames on July 10 at a benefit at the Ames Unity Church for the Joplin Unity Church. The Joplin church was destroyed by a tornado a few weeks ago. I don't know how long of a set we will play, but expect to have more info shortly. Directions are here. The show starts at 6pm, there will be a BBQ starting at 5.

We will be sharing the stage with Amy Rohn at the Life Force Arts Center in Chicago August 27. As I understand it we will both be playing 45 minute sets. Cover is $10 in advance, $15 at the door. The show starts at 8pm.

Lizzie and I will be celebrating our wedding at Musecon August 6. Come for the wedding, stay for the con!

You don't have to be a member of the con to come to the wedding, but I do highly recommend it, it's going to be tremendous fun! There will be much music made in the evenings! AND, as an extra added attraction, the entire WSPA will be in attendance!

As always, the best source for Cheshire Moon stuff is on our website, which will be updated shortly, and on our Facebook Page (yeah, I know, so many people hate FB, but it's necessary nowadays, kinda like MySpace was a few years ago).

Be it so announced that on the sixth day of August in the year 2011 at the hour of 5 PM there shall be a gathering at Musecon in the city of Itasca in the state of Illinois.

The purpose of the gathering shall be the joining of Elizabeth Craig and Eric Coleman.

While all are welcome, not simply those who may be attending the convention, it is the wish of the Bride & Groom that any who wish to attend the wedding to please consider attending the convention as well.

If you are in need of a room, please book it through the convention website, www.musecon.org.

A modest reception shall follow the ceremony. There will be a formal celebration in honor of this moment at a convention later in the year, so please return to this space for that announcement.

Last night in the filk circle at CAP (geeze) I asked Lizzie to marry me. For reasons no one (other than she) can work out, she said yes.

She is moving in a month (exactly, we should be to my our place by this time of the evening if all goes well). The wedding is still being worked out, but looks to be, most likely, in late August in the Chicago area.

We are both very happy.
