2018!

We’re starting to look to next year.

In January we intend to go into the studio to record the best songs from the 52 Songs project. We will start taking preorders for that once we have songs picked and start recording. We need to get a certain number of preorders to be able to press the CDs.

We hope to get Callenwood written and recorded next year, we’ll see how that goes, but we could, feasibly, release two CDs next year.

We’re starting to think about shows. The only certain thing is OVFF, but Demicon is a good bet too. Those may be our only cons next year, money is more than a little tight.

Other than that, we will most certainly do shows in Chicago (probably two) and the surrounding Burbs, Minneapolis, Champaign, Indianapolis (if the show next weekend goes well) and a couple shows in DSM. We’re looking for a place in Kansas City, and in Nebraska.

So, if you know of a place that would have us, or want to set up a House Concert, please let us know. We’re always on the look out for new places to play.
ericcoleman: Cheshire Moon (Cheshire Moon)
We played two storming sets this weekend. Xap streamed both live for us over our FB page. I was able to snag them and repost them on You Tube.

Susan joined as, as she does for a lot of the Chicago area shows. Cathy McManamon both hosted and sang and played drums a bit.

Set 1 - https://youtu.be/J6grsJHdC3w

Set 2 - https://youtu.be/3ZQh9T_o03E

If you like these, and want to support our House Concert shows, think about sending us something via PayPal. cheshiremoonband at gmail.

We've also posted this around.

We’re starting to think about next year. I expect we will do a show at the Church on Lawrence in Chicago, as we try to do every year. Another house concert in Champaign is probably going to happen, like it does. If the November show in Indianapolis works out, we’ll go back there. Cathy has said she wants us to do another show at her place. This weekend's show was very special.

Right now the only definite convention is Demicon (that will change I am sure). After the financial beating we have taken this year, the cost of badges and rooms are just beyond our means.

We still want to do a show a month at least. So we’re looking. We’re looking to do house concerts, especially house concerts, coffee houses, little music festivals, anything like that. We don’t do Ren Faires, we’re just not that sort of band. We don’t do bars. We want to go places where the music is the focus.

And we want to get places we haven’t been! So if we haven't come out your way and you think of a place that might work for us, please let us know!

There is now video of an entire house concert on our FB page (and it will be up on You Tube soon). This one was unusual because Susan was playing with us, which she doesn’t do very often, living in a different city and all. But it shows you what we do live. (this part written before I posted the video)

We’re never going to do this for a living. I’ll be 60 next year, and I don’t see myself living in a van for weeks at a time.

But we want to play as much as we can. We want to record more new songs.

So, if you have a place for us to play, please let us know.

In the meantime, enjoy this weekend's show.

One of the fun things about making music, you can combine vacations with something else you love! We get to go to a new con (for us) and then go see some relatives in various places! My brother lives in NC, we pass through WV where I was born, then on to the Indianapolis area, where Lizzie grew up. So ...

Our spring mini-tour has come together at last! Baltimore, Carrboro NC, Greenville IN, Champaign IL. I haven't made an event for Balticon, there is enough info out there about it. But the rest all have events. If you know anyone in any of the areas who you think may be interested, point them our way!

ericcoleman: Cheshire Moon (Cheshire Moon)
Cheshire Moon will be performing this weekend in Antioch at Xap's house! It will just be Lizzie and I (Susan is gallivanting around the country this month). We'll be doing a lot of new songs, probably most of the upcoming CD as well as the summer singles. RSVP to rsvp@mapcase.org.

The party starts around 4. The grill gets fired up around 5. Bring grillables and something to share. The music starts around 6. Bring a lawn chair. Bring drums as we expect to have a bit of a drum jam after the show. Weather permitting, there will be movies out on the lawn starting around dark. Since it's being planned by Xap and Eric, expect Marx Brothers and Errol Flynn!

Please RSVP to rsvp@mapcase.org so we have an idea how many to expect.

Thank to David and Erin for their marvelous hospitality and a marvelous place to do a house concert. It was so wonderful to see some faces I haven't seen in too long.

We are going to try to get to the Chicago area in the spring/early summer and may do a mini tour this summer as well, which will probably include some shows in the area.

It's this Saturday! If you are on Facebook go to the event page and RSVP. If not, email David Abzug or myself! This is going to be a fun show!

The first road trip of the year is almost over. This weekend was a dance weekend for WSPA-3 so we have been hanging out and actually getting some decent downtime.

The only real problem, my poor love is sick. She had the beginnings of a cold toward the end of the week, felt better yesterday and is miserable today. The scary thing ... she is actually letting me take care of her. My knee is better, but she still tries to do all the driving. When I say "I'm driving home" and she says "ok", she isn't feeling well.

WSPA-3 has been at workshops, but we did get to hang out at the pool together yesterday.

The hotel has been horrible, especially food service. I may rant about that later.

The big highlight for me was lunch yesterday with [personal profile] rowangolightly. There was much laughing and stories and marvelous food. Lizzie and I have to get down this way again soon.

Next weekend is the house concert in Champaign, a week and a half after that is Seattle.

Then nothing for awhile. A crazy month, it's going to be amazing though.

ericcoleman: Cheshire Moon (Cheshire Moon)
Here is the Facebook event. If you don't do FB contact David Abzug or myself. (my email address is my first name last name at gmail)

This may be the only chance for Illinois folks to see this version of the band as Susan is moving away this summer!

We are looking to do more house concerts, but don't have them lined up at the moment.
ericcoleman: Cheshire Moon (Cheshire Moon)
We have shows coming up in the next two weeks here in Ames and a couple shows out of town in January.

This Thursday and next we will be at Ames British Foods from 4:30-7. This week will be all three of us, next week will be just Lizzie and I. There is a Facebook event here.

January 12 there will be a house concert at David & Erin's in Champaign. There is a Facebook event here. You do need to RSVP for that one. It will be a trio show.

January 25th we will be appearing at Conflikt, the Pacific NorthWest Filk Convention. We will have a special guest fiddler for that show.

We are working on getting more shows in the new year. If you know of a place that would be good for us or want to host a house concert, let us know!
