What Lizzie, Susan and I played tonight at The Space.
She Moved Through The Faire
Widows Garden
Family

I took Lizzie and Susan home and went back to see Destroy Nate Allen play. Now I am back home, and it is time for bed!

Went to the Open Circus last night. We played Stream Of Consciousness, If I Were The Rain, Child Of Stars and Out Of The Light. I broke a string tuning before we went on stage. The advantage to the bouzouki is that if you break a string, there is still another at that pitch right next to it! We had a marvelous time. We should be at the open mike at The Space on Sunday!

Last night at The Space For Ames we played
Daughter Of The Red
Untitled
Calvin's Girl
Critters

We're getting out to play more!

We played
Daughter Of The Red
Untitled
Out Of The Rain
Then, on the insistence of a few folks
... Rain

Then came Bryan Baker. I sat in with the laptop snare on his werewolf song, and then the electronic kit for ... Ahem ... Play That Funky Music ... Yeah, really

Lizzie and I will be at Billy Joes tonight!

We went to play a few songs at the Ames Progressive open mike tonight. It went very well. We got a few nice words from folks after, and a lot of applause during. We played ...

Follow That Road (Anne Hills)
Swamp Witch (Jim Stafford)
She Moved Through The Faire (Trad)
Widow's Garden (Cheshire Moon)

We will go back next week with an acoustic set.

As always, please check our our website and Facebook page. We will get the couple of songs with bad mixes fixed as soon as we can get some new recording done, probably after Duckon.

We may hit the open mike at Billy Joes Tuesday, depends on the WSPA.

Hand Above The Water
FPN

I think this is the last time I'm going to do FPN there. I have yet to get a laugh. I also told the story about the friend with the tattoo leading into Hand Above The Water. The audience looked like a dog I had just showed a card trick.

I'm slowly going back and relearning some older songs. Hand was easier than I thought it was going to be. Almost Beautiful gave me fits, it has some tricky chords. I'll probably do it next week.

I updated the webpage tonight. I now run the official Paul K page, but I can't find any of my original files to re-edit. I need to go through some discs, it's been 4 years since I changed anything and it needs a major revamp.

My page now includes a video page. There are no videos on it, at least not till I work out how to embed them. I'm bad at html.

Only Coffee House In Town
Nice Guys
Color Of Your Eyes
How Can I Miss You?
WYSIWYG

Yeah, I did a safety set last night and it felt good. I realized before I went onstage that I could not remember how to play the bridge for Color Of Your Eyes. I finally got it just before I went on and it went well. I was worried about the How Can I Miss You, it's tough to play, but I got through it very well. Some of the switch back stuff I do on the strumming wasn't quite there, but it will be.

I am slowly getting the solo chops back, I still have a long ways to go.

I'm headin to Billy Joe's in just a bit.

I had the 2nd weirdest heckle ever tonight. I was doing FPN and someone asked for Def Leppard. I was struggling to remember the verse, I didn't have my big book with me, and someone grabbed something from a table, got up onstage in back of me ... and poured some sugar on me. A lot of sugar. There is a point at which your improv skills fail you. This was one of those points.

I played Low Self Esteem, Heaven Out On The Highway, Ghosts, FPN.

A little loose tonight, but a decent set. I need to play more guitar. I did
Last Ride (Nixon/Coleman)
Hey Dad (with a new verse)
Marilyn Monroe (Dan Bern)
FPN

Several folks came out to hang out with me, which is always a nice thing. And I broke a few people with FPN. I'm home the next couple of weeks, but expect to be back there in three weeks, maybe with some new songs, so come out and see me ...

Once again I will be at Billy Joes tonight for the open mike. I'll be on sometime between 7:30 and 9. I won't be back again for a couple weeks.

Heaven Out On The Highway
Side Effects
FPN

Both of the new songs went very well and FPN got the best reaction I have gotten at this open mike.

The lyrics for the two originals need a little touching up, they aren't quite there yet, but the music for both seems to be solid, and they are possibly the best I have done vocally. I may get back to playing solo shows again, locally even ...

I will be at the open mike at Billy Joes in West Des Moines

It was a Christmas theme, so I learned a couple of Christmas Songs, and something WILDLY not Christmas, mostly because there was someone in the audience who I wanted to hear it.

Christmas At Ground Zero - Weird Al
Last Ride - Toyboat
Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer - Elmo and Patsy

I was pretty bad ... my lack of solo time onstage really showed. I need to get back up there more

How Can I Miss You?
FPN - which flopped almost totally

and a second set
I Got Nothing - my Mahtowa song for this year, about my current lack of songwriting ability
Low Self Esteem
WYSIWYG - a request ... from some guys who used to come to the Boheme

All in all a pretty good night, even if FPN didn't do as well as it has. The new song works, but needs some tweaking.

It's a noisy smelly bar, I was convinced earlier that it was a never again. I just don't do bars. After the first two songs, I was semi-convinced, then things went wrong

Low Self Esteem (with a special guest drummer, didn't get his name, I'm like that)
Trophy Wife
FPN - tore the audience up ... I may need to record this one for The Fump. I'm still not telling you what it is though.

Then the rest of the set went much more smoothly

Standards (forgot Standards)
Bang My Bald Spot - a request even, my right hand was done by the time I was done with this.
Nice Guys

A good set by the end, all I needed to do was get their attention ... FPN is kind of the bitch slap of my songs.
