My boss gets on these lists occasionally. Boiler Room lists. They are trying to get him to buy bad stocks. If I get a call from the NYC area and it's not one of our offices, it is pretty much always a Boiler Room call. I won't use my bosses real name in this, or at least not his real last name, but I will use the name they tried to call him.

Me: standard business greeting
BR: JOHN?
Me: NO!
BR: Is John there?
Me: Which John, I have several here (I know full well which he wants, but it's more fun this way)
BR: John .... ahhh ... Liedon
Me: Lead singer of the Sex Pistols?
BR: What?
Me: We don't have a John Liedon here.
BR: He then gets the last name right ...

I am saved by the bell!
Phone rings ...

Me: Please hold for a moment

And when I came back, he was gone ...

as before, I love giving people who are running cons a hard time!
