I have been a little quiet on my knee and other stuff lately. Mostly because things are going so well.

My major problem now is that I sat on a couch for 4 months waiting for the surgery. I'm in terrible shape. That is changing. I put on a bit of weight and am working on losing that and more. I am more mobile than I have been in a year and a half.

The main thing is, I don't have any pain. To be more correct, I don't have any pain that isn't ordinary middle aged stuff. I don't want to get out of bed in the morning, but, admittedly, a lot of that is because I have a warm cuddly Lizzie there.

Memorial Day I was busy. We got to the venue at noon to see the start of things. We left for a couple hours in the middle of the day and then I was back until midnight for the drum jam. I couldn't have done that even a month ago.

I am feeling better and better all the time. I am hoping on being back to where I want to be in time for the fall shows. I hate playing shows sitting down. I'm still doing it for the time being, but I hate it.

I do need surgery. Nothing big, I will be on crutches for a few days, back to normal in a few weeks.

The Doctor said I can live with it as is, but I can't push myself too much. If I want to keep sitting when I play shows, if I want to live a fairly sedentary life ...

I don't

So, I am going to arrange it for sometime late in February. I need to have an OK from my regular doc at least 14 days before the surgery. Going to get the surgery scheduled and the doc appointment scheduled, since you have to do it in that order ...

So once a year seems to be my surgery schedule!

In an hour or so I head out to see the doctor about the MRI on my knee. Here's hoping that it feeling better over the last week or two is a good sign and surgery isn't necessary.

My knee is doing better, I can walk pretty well today. Very little pain and the pain there is is more of an off balance thing from walking oddly for awhile now.

I see the specialist again Wednesday. Did the MRI last Friday. We'll see what the damage is, but it's beginning to look like it isn't anything major.

On the previous wounds. I think I have worked out a way I can still do the snare drum stuff with other musicians. I am going to put together a set of gloves with brushes attached, basically going out from the tips of my middle fingers, but with the index to ring fingers taped together, so no one finger takes all the brunt and no impact at all on either thumb. I think I can do shuffles and such quite well that way. It will be like playing the Handsonic (I need to get one of my own) or hand drums, both of which I can manage quite well. It doesn't solve full drum set playing, but that's ok, I can at least still do some drumming ... I hope. It may not work, but it's worth a try.

I've been limping for awhile now. I went to the doctor for my usual checkup this week. He took a look at it and has referred me to a specialist. Best case scenario I need a cortisone shot. Worst case scenario I have a torn meniscus (I had to look it up too).

It's been a fun few weeks.
