I have been watching a Spike Jones DVD and decided to take a look on some information on some of the folks in the band.

Sir Frederick Gas died two months ago. RIP

Wow.

You know, of course, that Doodles Weaver is Sigourney Weaver's uncle.

Glad to know someone is still around. Time to put on my favorite Spike Jones Song: "And the Great Big Saw Came Nearer and Nearer."

When I was 13 I got the measles. And for reasons too complicated to explaine here, I was living with an older couple at the time. The man was friends with the trombone (trumpet?)player from the Spike Jones Orchestra. He had many recordings and photos. I listned to Spike jones in a dark room with a high fever for two or three days.
I think it may have been formative.

Kingsley Jackson was the original, but when he joined the army early on, he was replaced by John Stanley

Ah...Jackson left in 1942. Stanley was the trombonist from 1942-1945.

Dr. Demento did a tribute to him a couple weeks ago.
