Fred Saberhagen

from [livejournal.com profile] eeknight's LJ and Wikipedia. I can't find anything anywhere else

Walter Jon Williams has it up, too. Not sure if the two come from the same source.

It's a shame his sardonic wit and fearless will to weave big stories around little, world-changing ideas is no more. I also found his writing immensely readable. He had a way with prose.

I bought a barf bag at Bubonicon years ago from Fred Saberhagen. It was made to look like a T-shirt by being upside-down, with three cardboard "sleeves" sticking out of each side, and written on the front "My Parents Went To Earth And All I Got Was This Lousy T-Shirt."

All I've read (so far) is the "Face of the Gods" series but I really liked it. Sad...

I think I have every book of his that is not a Berserker and have read most of them several times. I will certainly miss finding new ones every so often.
