What's next? Will they block Pajiba?

Fingers crossed that they leave that one alone.

And then bring back the others.

Having a blacklist is a reason to quit your job. That they put certain sites on it, not so much so. (By their rationale for having a blacklist, LiveJournal should be at the top of it.) You should be free to behave however you like as long as you don't disturb your cow-orkers, and only evaluated on how well your job gets done, not on how busy and unhappy you look to your PHB; any employer with a bunch of specific rules doesn't deserve to have employees. Of course, if you like to eat, you probably have to compromise principle.

I'm sure there are others; it's an arms race, basically.

Filters suck.

What I really don't get is last week I couldn't get to LJ at all. Today I can. So I'll take the access when I can get it and count my blessings.

Grab your tone and probe.
Plug the toner into your wall jack.
Wander down to the server room and find your patch. Move it to the optional port on your fire wall. Return to your desk and surf.

It's the IT equivalent of walking into your boss' office and taking a leak on his desk. Or pretty close to it anyway. You might be morally justified but you'd still get fired.

Oh, its not THAT bad. Hell, most people would just unplug it and put it back rather than trace it to find out where it went so its likely they'd never ever know.

Andyeah, its a little dirty but fun. Most things are.
