I had a sleepy weekend. Two road trips in two weeks and 4 in about 6 weeks has finally beaten me down.

I stayed in bed and watched movies much of the weekend. I feel much better (except for a whole bronchitis thing, but that happens occasionally)

I have started back into practicing a lot more. My goal is to go upstairs every morning at work and run through 5-7 songs. Everything on my playlist. Including stuff I haven't played for ages.

One of these songs, Home Again, has drifted back into the A-list after some years of being ignored. One of my better guitar parts (back when I used to write much more complicated stuff) and a pretty interesting serious lyric. We'll see what happens to it.

There are a couple of other songs that, while I will play them, will not make it onto the A-list.

Boheme was fun, even if my blood sugar crashed about halfway through the first song. I ate too early and not too well

How Can I Miss You?
Standards (too damn fast)
Color Of Your Eyes (see above)
Trophy Wife
WYSIWYG

I think I sucked, other seemed to enjoy it.

I went to the recently resurrected old time jam last night. It ended up being more of a blues jam since there were more blues people there, but it was still a pretty good time.

My fingers are screaming, but see the first part of this post for what I am going to do about it.

So, how are you? Do not answer in Haiku.

I just started doing something similar... for one, i'm trying to put together a book of ALL the songs i know, or should know, as reference. And i'm going through them. Last night, i was teaching myself Jolie Holland's "Alley Flowers" (one of the most beautiful recordings i've heard in ages, despite sounding like it was done on a boom box in someone's laundry room), just because i finally had the words in front of me.

Wish i could get out to play again, tho. I'm currently taking Sperry to puppy training class on thursdays, so i'm missing the Riverview open mic. And Klee keeps doing extra rehearsals for an upcoming belly dance show on wednesdays, so i can't go to the Gingko either. Sigh. Anyone know of other good open mics in the Twin Cities (especially one that will tolerate my questionable taste)?

Anyway, i'm with you. I'm going to sit down and make myself practice at least a few songs every night, more for my voice than my fingers. I was also practicing bodhran last night, which was painful mostly because i SUCK at it.

He says "no haiku".
Reverse psychology says
I must write some now!

Does he really think
Anyone here would pass up
A blatant challenge?

How am I? Job search
Making no progress at all.
Is this depression?

One oh-so-cool thing
Helps me to get out of bed:
Ecuador beckons!
