Saturday at Con On The Cob
Nov. 13th, 2007 03:44 pmPossible Oscar - A great set. Jared is getting more relaxed onstage and it is some of the best material out there right now. I hope they do indeed get the new CD done by Marscon, I can't wait to hear some new stuff.
Power Salad - Power Salad was brilliant, but I have come to expect that. He had a few tech problems, but handled them wonderfully. Besides, you have to love anyone who covers Giles, Giles & Fripp.
the great Luke Ski - I actually kind of preferred the previous, cut down set. It was nice that there were things in both sets that I hadn't seen him do. I suppose I am a little jaded, since I think I have seen 10 Luke shows this year.
Carrie Dahlby - Carrie dear, you just keep getting better. You have a charm onstage that is wonderful. Someone else who I am really looking for new material from. I loved Devo's introduction of her, as the Carol Cleveland of Dementia.
Derwood Bowen III - Derwood and I had some words after my set, and I feel bad about it. Work on it, really. Prove me wrong, I'd love it, I really would.
Eric Coleman - Geeze, he sucked ... why do they let this guy onstage anywhere ???
Possible Oscar - I missed this one, sorry.
Positive Attitude - heh, I think I made it clear elsewhere, total demented audience destruction. I don't think that the recordings are as good as they are live, but I am still looking forward to a CD DAMMIT !!!
Sudden Death - Will you quit being so damn good !!!
Worm Quartet-mania - Not WQ, but an incredible simulation. Some folks did versions of WQ songs, I wish I had a guitar in the room, I woulda done Wookie Weenie.
the Gothsicles - My throat is still sore from yelling along ... DarkNES is one of the most fervent frontmen I have ever seen in a band, they were amazing. I can't wait to see them again.
Seamonkey - I missed this set, and feel the worse for it, but I wanted to be at the b-day party for a little bit and needed some down time if I was going to do that

Second Show
Nov. 11th, 2007 12:05 amNow this one was a blast, great audience, great time.
Wookie Weenie (Worm Quartet) - Since Shoebox has spent much of the con ill
Marilyn Monroe (Dan Bern)
Low Self Esteem
Women Like You (it sucked just a little, I couldn't remember the chords)
WYSIWYG
Product Might Be Hot
Crank Generation
How Can I Miss You?
Nice Guys
I had Bang My Bald Spot on the set list, but STILL forgot to do it. Geeze.

Nov. 10th, 2007 02:53 pmSoggy Potato Chips - He hit more often than he didn't. A ton of good ideas, and considering that this was just his 2nd show of any sort, in a year he's going to be a dementia force to reckon with
the great Luke Ski - No costumes, just the music. He was great. I heard some stuff that I had not heard live before.
Jessica Delfino - Due to a family emergency, she wasn't able to make it. Bummer.
Tom Smith - Another great Tom set. I wish I could develop a tenth of the rapport with the audience.
Comedy Music Q&A - This was a blast. A bunch of Fump people (and me) talking about what we do. I think we laughed more than the audience did.
Rob Balder - I have to be honest, I bought his CDs at Marscon and I haven't had a chance to listen to them yet so a lot of the set was new to me. I now need to go home and listen to the CDs. Great stuff.
Power Salad - Ok, I am a fan, I have to admit. He was great at Marscon and even better on this show (more on his show that just got done with the next post)
Worm Quartet - Probably the best WQ show I have seen. The audience was really into it, and really set Shoebox off. The best show of the weekend so far.
Sudden Death - Insert snarky comment about his showing on Dr D this year ... and MAN does he deserve it. A great show with some stuff that I hadn't seen live.
Seamonkey - What can I say, he broke Shoebox ... he broke most of the audience. Deeply twisted, deeply wrong, deeply funny.

This was a rough choice
May. 2nd, 2007 02:12 pmWindycon has been my home con for some years now. It was the first con I went to, and I have yet to miss one in the 16 or 17 years I have been going to cons (although something could be said for me really being there last year, I was on drugs)
I have been made an offer that I can't refuse. After all how can someone refuse someone who can write a sentence like "Anyway, since you yourself are an artist such as yourself I would like to invite you to participate." Or for that matter a con that makes anagrams of the performers names (so The Great Luke Ski becomes Thrust Like A Geek)
I will be attending and performing at Con On The Cob in Akron OH the 2nd weekend of November.
