A year ago yesterday I took the Megabus to Chicago. A year ago today we woke up in Lizzie's apartment, surrounded by boxes. Later that day we went to see Flogging Molly play, it was Lizzie's birthday present. The next day the truck got loaded up and we drove here.

Today we woke up at home, together. One year. It will be an anniversary that will always be easy to remember because today is the birthday of my love, my partner, my soul mate, the fabulous, brilliant, beautiful Lizzie Crowe.

Happy Birthday my love.

The End Of The World !!!

edit: This story, and all of your other end of the world garbage is just that, garbage. If you have followed this back from CNN, and you feel the need to rant about your imaginary friend telling you when the real end of the world is coming ... fuck off back to CNN ... none of the tinfoil hat brigade are welcome here. I've shut off comments from non-LJ users. If you have something intelligent to say, join LJ and join in.

It's in two weeks ... we're trying to get an idea of who is going to show up in Joliet. So give us an idea if you are going to be there.

December 21st is my 50th Birthday !!!

Yeah, I know, I appear to be a gibbering idiot of slightly lesser years.

I have been trying to think of what I want to do for this occasion and this, for what it is worth, is what I came up with.

Since my birthday is on a Sunday, I have decided to celebrate on the 20th. So ... here is the cunning plan that cannot fail. I'm going to Chicago.

At about 3:30 pm on Saturday December 20th I will be at the Lincoln Park Zoo ... dressed warmly I am sure. When I lived in Chicago I went there for my birthday several years running. The idea is to be there about dusk ... to listen to the wolves. There is no more sublimely lovely and unnerving experience. On one hand it is one of the most beautiful sounds in the world. On the other hand there is some primal thing in the back of your head that starts screaming !!! RUN !!! RUN YOU FOOL !!! RUN !!!

After that we will head south to [livejournal.com profile] chezdork in Joliet for food and music until we just can't take it anymore. So bring an instrument. If no one else brings instruments (and yes I know that there are quite a few in that house, I'm ignoring that for the moment) then I shall play more. Yeah you betcha, that should get them pouring in.

So ... please ... show up to one or the other or both. It would be a terrible thing if I am the only person there (guilt guilt guilt).

Presents are not necessary, but if you do feel the urge to go buy me something, I have a wish list on Amazon that includes 300+ a couple of items.

Mostly I want friends around me. Living in Iowa gets to me sometimes. I have a few friends here, but I really don't see them often enough due to traveling and the responsibilities inherent with the WSPA.

If you can read this, you are invited. Some folks I don't know as well, I'd like to get to know you better. Oh, and anyone who brings black balloons or anything like that will be thrown to the wolves. I have never been so alive as I am at this time. Come celebrate with me. 50 years ... it's been quite a ride.

A question

It's just a little under 6 months to my birthday, and it's one of THOSE birthdays. Yeah, I am 50 at the end of the year.

So what do you think I should do for my birthday? The last local party I threw was attended by 6 people, maybe 8. I'm thinking I may need to go out of town for this one.

So, gimme some ideas, be realistic ... if you can ...

Since ...

Be there

More information later.
