My left thumb hurts quite a bit, especially when I play. So it is going to be a long slog, but it still looks hopeful

I had surgery on my left thumb a couple of years ago, and was afraid I would never sign nor play an instrument again. It took a long time, and the thumb is still weak, but I was able to regain flexibility and strength over time.

I caution you not to overdo in the joy of being able to play and do things. Slow and steady really does win the race.
