IYNSHO who is the greatest blue eyed soul singer?

First of all let's eliminate the The Righteous Brothers from this, cause it's just not fair to everyone else. I mean really.

My current favorite is Peter Riviera from Rare Earth, who is also one of two singing drummers who should not shut up (the other being Levon Helm)

Listen to Percy Sledge do When A Man Loves A Woman, then listen to Bolton squeal through it. It's like Ned Beatty trying to be a soul singer.

I have to agree with Micheal McDonald though ... one of the greatest soul voices ever.

And I think that Phil should shut up and play his drums. We had this discussion earlier and really, Phil is not a singing drummer. He is a drummer who also sings, but he really doesn't do both at the same time (cept in one video, I think)

Phil can't even play his drums now. I read he had neck or back surgery and doesn't have feeling in his hands at the moment. So he's a singer for the foreseeable future.
