You've all seen the article about the kids in Philly who were going to go to a private pool for the summer, then they got kicked out because they "changed the complexion" of the place.

There was a friend of mine who would go off about the "Limousine Liberals". If they believe these things so much, why don't they give all their money away? Why don't they just watch out for themselves? (which is what he was doing). My reply was, because they now have the money and power to change things, so they should use it for that, not just give it away, but use their influence, use their power, use the fame they have gathered to try to make a positive change.

Tyler Perry has done that.

"Since you all have put me in the position to be able to do something I feel like by me doing this we are all doing it together."

Damn right.

"When you see these kids coming through the airport, (I'm sure you won't be able to miss them. I imagine they are going to be super excited) when you see them in the park and in the hotel, let's show them a whole lot of love and respect. Show them that they are just as good as anyone else. And show them that they can do or be anything they want to be no matter what any one says!"

Awwww, I dont' live anywhere near there but now I wanna go to the airport and cheer them on. I don't even watch his movies, now I'm gonna have to. I was avoiding them because I thought he was making fun of old fat people in "Madea"... maybe I should take a look after all. A quick look-up shows he was an Admiral in the Star Trek reboot movie, does that count?

I'm no fan of Perry, but that's an amazing thing for the man to do.:)

Ditto that.

I keep thinking of Spike Lee's "Do The Right Thing" (in which nobody did) and Phil Ochs' "Love Me I'm A Liberal".
