[Poll #1358930]

I fully expect this one to be another blowout ... but you can never tell. I thought that Alan Moore would do better against Neil Gaiman.

That is so not fair. Asking the day before the movie opens. ;)

The Dark Knight had a bigger impact on how comics were perceived and done from that day on. It changed everything for fans and creators.

And no, it's not to say anything bad about Watchmen. It's brilliant and the story of how DC screwed Alan Moore out of his own creation is a lesson to be learned.

I've always seen it more as a written book that was made as a comic for the purposes of gimmick. Does that make sense? It would be a bad read as a straight book, but it's too brilliant for a run of the mill comic.

But no one ever talks about Marshal Law, the hero hunter which is the punk's answer to Watchmen AND The Dark Knight.

And I still say the movie's gonna suck. It's so uninspired and I don't think Zack Snyder read the book. He just looked at the pictures.

Oh sure, make this one *hard*. Damn it!! I *liked* Dark Knight Returns. But I am hoping Watchmen is even better. But Watchmen has a LOT of story that needs to be removed, changed, and condensed to fit into a 3 hour movie. My hopes are still high but it would be so easy to blow this one.

Brian Dennehy. He would be played by Brian Dennehy.

Actually...this might not be a bad choice.

Clancy Brown. Think of him in HBO's Carnivale.

/me looks at the choices again. Argh! I read that as a movie thread, the latest Batman movie vs the Watchmen movie that opens in two days. So I voted wrong if the topic was the comics.

Like the art better in the Watchmen books. I didnt catch DKR in comic book form, only the leather bound graphic novel. Was it ever done as a series?

I loved both stories but the art from DKR really messes with my head.

The artwork is a little...jarring to me. I've surely read and reread Watchmen at least a dozen times more than DKR.

"Thief! You'se a thief! Sebben Lebben Got this for Two Fiddy" (I always say Two Thirty Nine, but Im sure I've got the number wrong)

"Hurm" (gimme quote)

I just looked at the Marscon page and there are surely a bunch of things there that I would love to see / sit in on, but, alas, the babe is due home this weekend after being gone for 2 week (apart for 3 with me being at Cap the week before she left) so its unlikely I'll take the time out to go wander around a convention.

I'm a big fan of Miller's art style - Ronin, Sin City, DK.

The problem Miller has (IMO) is that he thinks he can take FOREVER between issues. Fans gots ta have their fix, and when he takes 8-9 months between issues for DKR.... AAAuuugh! :)
