Not every movie is worthy of an Oscar. Hell, some movies aren't worthy of anything much but scorn and derision. The Razzies were born in 1981 and as long was we are all copping to the great movies we've seen, let's fess up to the not-so-great ones we've watched... either in a theater or in the private shame of our homes by highlighting them in bold. I'm adding an extra, italize those that you tried to watch, but gave up on in disgust.

Endless Love (1981)
Heaven's Gate (1980)
Legend of the Lone Ranger, The (1981)
Tarzan, the Ape Man (1981)
Mommie Dearest (1981) - I do want to say that this movie, along with MANY of the others tagged were not seen in a theater, they were on TV, and they were on, and I had nothing else to do.

Annie (1982)
Butterfly (1982)
Megaforce (1982)
Pirate Movie, The (1982)
Inchon (1981)

Sheena (1984) - Ok, there were two good reasons to see this movie.
Where the Boys Are '84 (1984)
Bolero (1984) - Now I don't quite understand my then fascination with Bo Derek, I think it may have had something to do with an overwhelming love of BBQ.

Rocky IV (1985)
Year of the Dragon (1985) - This was back when Mickey Rourke couldn't act.

Armageddon (1998/I) - Once again, I love this movie. See the Waterworld comment

If he Oscars are a poor representation of the best, or at least an incomplete one, than these Razzies are similarly poor. I've seen several of these, and while I'm not going to defend them, I will say that many have worth aspects. Xanadu has one of the great counterpoint musical numbers in history (w/Gene Kelly). The bad songs in Ishtar are so deliciously bad that they almost rescue a poor movie. Raise the Titanic was on the other side of the DVD with Man Friday, which forgives some transgressions.

And much as I thought the foofarah surrounding The Blair Witch Project was undeserved, it's a fine low budget movie. Similarly, Waterworld is a fine low budget movie that had the disadvantage of being incredibly costly.

I'm not going to wrack my brain to find bad films that they left out. Sheesh.

I've seen many hideously bad movies that pre-date the Razzies, some of which I even saw without snarky robot commentary. (And really, even Crow and Tom Servo can't do much for MANOS: THE HANDS OF FATE.) Probably my favorite atrocious movie was "Evil Dead II," because it totally embraces its own campiness.

The ones on this list I've seen:

Xanadu (1980) (I saw this one repeatedly -- it was the Favorite Movie Ever of my frenemy Rebecca and all slumber parties at her house featured a showing of the movie)
Annie (1982)
Howard the Duck (1986) / Leonard Part 6 (1987) - I know I saw one of these, and I think I saw both, but I'm not 100% sure. They blur together.
Karate Kid, Part III, The (1989) - Even as a teenager, I was appalled at what a worthless waste of time and money this was. I'd really liked Karate Kid I and II, to give you some sense of my taste (or lack thereof) and then this one came along and I was like, WTF?
Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989) - What DOES God need with a starship?
Postman, The (1997) - I also loved that book. Hell, I still love that book. I have heard rumors that David Brin is contractually obligated to say that he likes the movie, and that this is why he defends it.
Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999)
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002)

I've only seen eight of the films on the list:

Newsies
Cliffhanger
Showgirls
Batman and Robin
Star Wars: Phantom Menace
The Haunting
Star Wars: Attack of the Clowns
Pearl Harbor

Elaine rented Pearl Harbor. I used to live where the exteriors of the Haunting were filmed (see user pic). Cliffhanger was in heavy rotation on a cruise we took so you couldn't avoid it.
