Betamax, you could take and record hi-quality audio on - we used to use it in our location recording biz. HD-DVD....ummmmmm, huh?

Just what I was going to say. Full-track audio on the beta tapes. HD-DVD...um, nope.

A very dear friend of mine gave me the whole first season on original Star Trek on HD DVD. He got it on sale. I have not had the heart to tell him I could never play it. Sigh.

Check the package and discs again. Those might have been issued HD-DVD on one side, regular DVD on the other of each disc.

I think Betamax still had some use in Industrial and Commercial applications up into the 90s.
