In my own bizarre mind, I strongly associate "magnificent" with tigers, while I don't associate "splendid" with much of anything.

Her real name is Stephanie Courtney. She does some good stand up. She's also on that "Madman" show, but you can't tell it's her.

I always think of "splendid" as being a bit Noel Coward-y, perhaps a tad elitist. "Magnificent" I associate with Orson Welles, whom I think of as being a little more "down-to-earth intellectual".
