I tracked down the reissue of the first New Order LP a couple days ago. It has some great extra tracks, A-sides and B-sides and such.

But the album itself ... most of it just doesn't hold up well. Procession (an A-side) is still gorgeous, but most of the album sounds like the free tracks Joy Division gave away to magazines and such, half finished ideas mostly. It is not as good as I remember.

So, what is music that you went back to after some years that doesn't live up to the memory?

Well, I have perhaps lost my taste for the bubble-gum type stuff I used to like in High School (we be talkin' 'bout 1910 Fruitgum Company, Archies, Cowsills, etc. here), but I still admire some of it in terms of structure and musicality.

Damn I'm old.
