There are some things that I can deal with never hearing ever again. Right now I have several Deep Purple albums on shuffle. I have removed Smoke On The Water from the list. I don't need to hear it ever again.

So, what are those songs for you? I have bunches, some more of which I may go into in comments.

For me it's not so much a matter of songs themselves, but musical "styles" which offend my ear more. For example, I love the song "Hooked On A Feeling", but not the best-selling annoying version of same (see below).

I never need to hear any disco song again. I didn't need to hear them the first thousand times.

"The Wild Rover" - When anyone does it, they say, "I never will play The Wild Rover no more" - and in their next set, there they go again playing it! But I don't so much mind doing "Wild Rover Blues".

Anything as performed by Blue Suede.

There is one song, though, that is beyond the pale. That was done in the 80's by someone calling herself Charlene, "I've Never Been To Me". Basically claiming that a woman can't be truly happy unless she raises children. Written by two men, one of whom died a few months ago.

As a side note, I would love to do a take off on Smoke On The Water, going from the riff into the theme from "Sex & The City" - there are enough notes in common to make it hilarious if done right.

I try to pay as little attention to them as possible.
