[Poll #1256523]

Hey, what can I say, I've been listening to 70s hard rock all day.

What's that Deep Purple album that has that song for two unfriendly groups of instruments?

That's P. D. Q. Bach.

Unless you mean "Concerto for Rock Group and Orchestra".

Yeah that one, "Concerto for Rock Group and Orchestra". It reminds me of the P. D. Q. Bach thing.

Weird. I actually found myself listening to a Black Sabbath album this morning as well for the first time in like a year. I had "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" stuck in my head.

You do know that asking me to choose between those two is like asking me to choose between breathing and eating.

If I was forced, I'd choose eating. At least I wouldn't be hungry for the three minutes b4 I was dead.

One of the problems with this is "which version of each"? On the whole, I would say that most versions of DP run rings around most versions of BS. The so-called "classic" lineups*? I think it's a tossup.

*(Blackmore/Paice/Lord/Gillan/Glover vs. Iommi/Ward/Butler/Osbourne)

I would agree, musically at least, except the DP version with Tommy Bolin that was just horrible, IMHO.

And as much as I like Richie's playing, he just isn't the riffmeister that Tony is.

But ... let's cut the tips off of two of Richie's fingers and see how he does on leads ...

I think that Tony handles himself pretty well considering.

CURSE YOU!!!

This made me think of the song Deep Purple, as covered by Donnie and Marie, and now it is stuck in my head!!!!!!

When the deep purple falls over sleepy garden walls
And the stars begin to twinkle in the sky—
In the mist of a memory you wander back to me
Breathing my name with a sigh...

How badly does it age me that the version of that song that I know is by Nino Tempo & April Stevens?

I've been listening to a lot of both the past couple of months, and mostly the Dio-era Sabbath. I know Ozzy is the revered frontman, but Dio kicks his ass.

And UFO trumps both Deep Purple and Black Sabbath.

Funny you should say that 'cause I just got a copy of Dehumanizer today for $2 at the pawn shop, along with Atom Heart Mother and a 2-disc Essential Hall & Oates.
