Yeah, the animals are cool, but museums tend to have better air conditioning (important on hot days and for people with allergies) and tend not to smell as bad as zoos.

Not a problem when one doesn't have a sense of smell (YMMV)

How does not having a sense of smell affect the joys of air conditioning. :)

While they both have fuzzy animals, I *much* prefer the fuzzy animals at the zoo.

The St. Louis zoo is free admission, and an EXCELLENT place to play "spot the mullet."

Fun fun fun!!

Gee, I thought an aquarium would be a better place for that. No, wait, wrong mullet?

Seriously though, isn't a Zoo just a particular type of Museum really?

Museums are good for learning that there were cool animals 100 million years ago. Zoos are a good start for learning that there are cool animals in the world today, that are actually real and alive not just pictures on the TV. The only hope wild animals have is getting the people who live in the cities to believe that they're real and care about them, and the only way that can happen is if they get some actual personal experience of them. Zoos are far less than ideal, but at least they're something, and at least some people start getting interested from what they can see visiting a zoo and move up from there to more direct involvement.

Zoo. Because there is always the chance the monkeys will fling poo.

Haven't seen it yet - but someday ..

Yet another reason why I'd prefer to live in a museum, myself.

I view it as, "If someone were to ask me, all things being equal, whether I would prefer to go to the museum or to the zoo", I would choose zoo.

Sorry to be so specific.

Is it raining, or not? What about snowing? Museums definitely beat zoos during many weather patterns.
