Date: 2008-07-24 07:13 pm (UTC)The early Beatles were so goody-goody, and the Stones so 'the thing'. And Keef is a god and an example to us all (what sort of example I'm none to sure but nevertheless....when it comes to a vote on the coolest man alive on the planet it's a toss up between him and Nelson Mandela).
And there's all those brilliant singles culminating with the album 'Exile'.
But 'Rubber Soul' 'Revolver' Sergeant Pepper' 'The White Album' and 'Abbey Road'....that's a fuck of a big argument for the Beatles.
Aaargh!

Date: 2008-07-24 11:14 pm (UTC)I agree it's officially "The Beatles" but I thought it was interesting that "The White Album" has made it into the vernacular. IIRC, didn't people start calling it that as soon as the album was issued?
