I've worn glasses since 3rd grade. In 5th grade I tried wearing contacts and hated it. Besides the bother of putting them in, taking them out, and cleaning them, I found that I couldn't wear them for 2 consecutive days without doing the enzyme cleaning. They irritated my eyes too much. It was probably something to do with my allergies. I've never even considered contacts since.

I have had glasses since I was about 3 years old. I always wanted contacts but my parents told me if I was going to get them I had to pay for them. So, in high school I got them and wear them a lot but I found my eyes drying out really fast and then coupled with my dad telling me I had a fat face needed to break it up with something, I gave up on the contacts. Eventually I tried wearing them again about 7-8 years ago and again just had issues with the dry eyes and I also felt like I couldn't see as well with them as I did with my glasses. So yet again gave up on them.

About 2 years ago, I tried yet again but I found myself to lazy to deal with putting them in when I got up along with the old complaints. I gave up...again.

I still wear them on occasion and wish I could get used them and not feeling like I am missing something on my face but overall I stick my glasses. Someone once told me that she was jealous that I got to wear galasses, they were like jewerly for your face. I was o.k, that's cool I enjoy that line of thinkging.

I have a hard time wearing contacts - not putting them in, but wearing them.

As a result I have come to terms with wearing glasses, and, in the process, realized that glasses are way sexier.

I wore glasses from second grade through high school, getting a new prescription every year or two. Then, just out of high school, I got my latest pair of glasses... And they were so thick that I couldn't close the earpieces, because the lenses were too thick. And these were the cutting edge (at the time) of slim optics.

So I got contacts. Semi Permeable lenses, specifically. And while they took some time to get used to, and I had problems with dust getting in my eyes, they were far and away better than the glasses. For one thing, I could wear sunglasses without looking like a complete loser or having to buy two sets of glasses and swap them back and forth. And they didn't fog up when I'd go from a cold climate to a warm one! As for a new prescription... The gas permeable lenses seemed to help stop the deterioration of my eyes... I ended up going through 3 sets of lenses in 15 to 20 years or so.

I just swapped over to extended wear soft lenses last year, since they now make them strong enough for my eyes. And the idea of being able to open my eyes and SEE first thing in the morning, without having to put on my glasses, or put my contacts in, is a novelty that hasn't worn off YET.

My prescription isn't as strong as yours, but being able to see even in the shower/rain/snow/every situation? Wow.

Cute geek girls in glasses ... Hmmmmm! (OK, geek guys in classes too, of course, but my boyfriend doesn't wear glasses whereas two of my girlfriends do.)

Lacking an option for both I went Contacts since that's what I wear mostly these days. The extended wear disposable lenses are one of the best things that have happened to my eyes. Nothing like actually being able to see when I wake up in the middle of the night and not having to fumble around for glasses. The only downsides is that since I wear them for a month at a time... I'm not so efficient at putting them in so it takes some time and swearing. But it's worth it... usually.

I've worn contacts since I was 13, and at this point, I can get my contacts in and out of my eyes in any state of exhaustion or not-sobriety. They rarely bother me during the day; I have to take them out every night, though.

I prefer them to glasses. I have much better peripheral vision and they don't slide down my nose. :)

I'll second all of those statements. I've had contacts since age 16 - which meant I started with the "hard" lenses. I now have the "rigid" gas permeables. Took me no time at all to adjust to even the hard lenses. You were supposed to start with like an hour a day and build up over several weeks to a full day. The 3rd day I forgot I had them in and wore them for over 10 hours.

My last prescription change, the doc warned me that I'd probably have trouble reading with them and gave me the option of one being corrected for distance and one for closer up. I figured I'd get sick with that, despite her telling me that most people adjust very quickly. Instead I have reading glasses - the cheap ones from the discount store.

I've also never had a problem with them despite working in a chemical plant for 15 years and chemistry labs since I was 17. I do wear safety glasses religiously, altho my current pair is "bi-focal" - the top is clear and the bottom is magnifying.

I realize that contacts might be more convenient in some ways, but my glasses are part of me. I started wearing glasses in the second grade, and I don't think I'll be stopping, y'know, ever. (Plus, my eyes are supersensitive and I just can't imagine poking the @#*& out of them every day would be pleasant)

I love contacts, I just like the process of wearing them, and the fact that I don't have stuff hanging on my face, fogging up when I open the dishwasher, or digging into my nose and temples (which, no matter how well-fitted they are, glasses sometimes do).

Two things I'll say, though:

1) I have worn glasses for almost 26 years (from 4-26 and 38-42). I love glasses, I'm fine with them. I just really like contacts.

2) I won't get contacts again until the Bundle is old enough to make an informed choice as to either get them or stay with glasses. It's just my way of showing solidarity with him.

i went with glasses. since i don't require either, i decided to go with the less gross one. anyone who has been around someone wearing contacts eventually has seen someone take something out of their eye, spit on it, and put it back in their eye.

Wearing glasses drives me BANANAS. Absolutely bananas. They slide off my nose, they make me break out between my eyes, and I have to do too much work to wear sunglasses (I'm really light sensitive, I can't really cope outside without sunglasses, except on the darkest and dreariest of days)- either prescription sunglasses or clip ons are kind of a pain in the ass. Plus, once I got used to having 360-degree vision with contacts, it is hard to put on glasses again. Even though I make a point of getting cute glasses, because when you have to wear 'em, you gotta look cute in 'em.

Tried contacts when I got them free for getting and exam and buying glasses, a couple times. Never could stand trying to get my finger that close to my eye...

Had too many eye infections as a kid and had more items dripped in my eyes (I am amazed I am not blind), and that is what makes me not want to put anything else in it.

Some of the weird things that doctors / eye doctors had my parents put in my eyes includes warm milk, several prescribed salves / creams, oils, and I can't remember everything, but it was bad. Alas I outgrew it at some time or another.

Contacts are good...well, I only wear the one, due to having only one dodgy peeper. However, apparently they cause your eye to grow blood vessels to provide oxygen that the lenses stop from getting to the cornea. So now I have to have more expensive lenses to stop this happening.
Still prefer them to glasses though. Until I try and take them out when I'm not actually wearing them. That stings like a bitch!
