7-Up is an acceptable substitute if Sprite is unavailable.. They're almost interchangeable. But for god's sake don't serve Sierra Mist!

I think they are completely different. I find Sprite to be utterly vile, while I quite like 7 Up

The only difference that I notice is that 7-up is a bit more sugary tasting than Sprite.

What a waste of whiskey. Please note that I don't say "perfectly good whiskey", because it's Canadian. So I guess it evens out.

7-Up is more effervescent, which, the way my stomach has been lately, is not a good thing. Which is why I haven't had very much soda I mean pop I mean carbonated beverages (well, except ale) for the past few years. The flatter, the happier my stomach is.

There are ads for Canadian Club that say "Damn Right Your Dad Drank It!" because consumers are apparently nostalgic for the time when microbreweries didn't exist and small batch drinks were not available in the U.S. Alcohol was for getting drunk, not for enjoying, and mass produced crap was the standard.

Actually Squirt is quite lovely if you can get past the name. Diet Squirt is one of the few really nice carbonated diet drinks, IMHO.

However, you have to get past the name... sort of like Smuckers.

7-Up - always. 7-Up is what Grandma served the kids while the adults were drinking. 7-Up is the drink of summer vacation and family holidays.

Sprite is just a carbonated beverage with no redeeming quality whatsoever.

If either are too sweet, put in a little bitters. Also good for when you wish to *look* as if you were drinking, but don't want to. It'll look like a highball if the right amount of bitters is added.

So, you don't like the name Squirt. Just ask the bartender for a glass of 'sour mix'.
