Wick Deer really introduced me to RT's solo work, and since then I've seen RT with an electric band, as a solo acoustic act (or is that a full acoustic band, RT and His Two Hands Full of Intelligent Fingers?), and as a duo with my all-time bass hero from Pentangle, Danny Thompson. If he shows up around here again, I'll, I'll ... go see him *again* see-if-I-don't!!
As I said above, I was second row center in a very small venue watching him and Danny (and then in the back row for the 2nd show). I was probably 10 feet away if that. They were astounding. I was a fan before and even more of one after. I got to chat with both of them for a bit. Danny is intense and intimidating and Richard is a bit shy, very charming and very silly.
One of the best "bits" I ever saw a guitarist do. When he came back for the encore, people starting shouting out songs (he ended up doing Beeswing, probably my favorite RT song) and with every title shouted, he moved his capo, then moved it again, then finally stopped the audience with a wagging finger.
