Interesting tidbit of info. Shortly after Buffy was airing regularly on TV, both "Willow" and "Xander" (which is actually a nickname/short for Alexander) became popular enough baby names to make the top 600 list. Xander is at 328 and Willow at 552. Neither was in the top 1000 before then. (Source: http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/decades/names2000s.html among other places) :D

Angel was too annoying, he just came in handy as more muscle. Xander at least had a great sense of humor, he was also able to last the entire series.
