Actually, I always thought of Xander as one of the bravest. Without any special knowledge, powers, or skills, he kept leaping in, knowing that his life was always in danger.
"The Zeppo" is one of my favorite episodes of all time.
I was talking about that episode last night with the person who bullied convinced me to watch the series ... I think that "The Zeppo" was about a season too late. Xander had already repeatedly shown that he was up to the task. I did find it funny (and well done) that he was scared of the thug, until he realized that he was a monster, then he wasn't scared any more.
