Jordan Romero is trying for the Seven Summits. He's managed 4 of them so far, Kilimanjaro, Kosciuszko, Elbrus and Aconcagua.
Whoop de friggin doo !!! Lots of people have done the Seven Summits.
But wait ... did I mention that he's 11. Yeah, he's 11 and has already nailed down four of the seven. Now admittedly the four he has done are the easiest. They're pretty much all walk ups, but still, Aconcagua is a walk up to almost 7000 meters ... almost 23,000 feet.
Damn, what a kid ...

Date: 2008-05-09 01:50 am (UTC)for example, i doubt you or i could just go walking one day and find ourselves suddenly at the top of even the smallest of these mountains. we'd probably need gear, and sherpas, and someone to carry us.
Although i must say, i'm imagining the conversation...
"Let's go for a walk!"
"Okay. Look! A pretty flower!"
"Look! We're at 23,000 feet!"
"Wow. When did that happen?"

Either of us, if we were determined, could be in good enough shape to make it up at least three of these in a year, maybe quicker.

Although the idea of climbing mountains with you is quite appealing. i bet it'd even be fun, if we could get past the whole not-dying in the preparations part.
