We Came, We Saw, We Left

OK, the Latin might not be exact.

We played our World Preview this last weekend at Demicon to a bunch of poor souls we lured into the room with the promise of chocolate. That is my story and I'm sticking to it, do NOT try to confuse me with the facts.

I have no good reason why so many folks came to see us play, but they did indeed show up and for some even odder reason seemed to actually like us. I will say that if guitar player with the Telecasters hadn't messed up so much, it would have been a perfect show. Songs we knew crumbled before us, songs we had never done right before rippled across the crowd in a perfect ripply motion. Pants were worn, guitars were brandished, women swooned (just not in the room we were in), boogie was woogied, and rock was rolled. IT'S ALIVE, ALIVE !!!

Beware ... the World Premiere is coming very soon to a Duckon near, well, near Chicago. I guarantee that all of the above will happen again ... wait ... I promise everything except the pants. There is never a guarantee on that.

The Toyboat 2008 What The Filk ??? Tour begins !!!

A critique: You were the only lead vocalist whose words I could understand. The rest of the band's leads vocals were too quiet and too unintelligible. Also, on Mike's guitar, there seemed to be a loud hissing noise that would eminate from the spaekers whenever he was playing. When he stopped playing, it would go away.

I enjoyed the show, and I am verry happy about the existance of ToyBoat. :) Please continue to RAWK!

There are various known issues with the other guys singing... [livejournal.com profile] gundo hasn't performed professionally in a few years so he's still "getting his sea legs back". [livejournal.com profile] anach has been singing in filk circles for years, but never amplified. [livejournal.com profile] mike46 had never performed in front of people until the other guys strong-armed him into being in the band. He had also never done any singing before at all so that's brand new for him.

So, those issues are totally being accounted for and they're a process of everyone getting (back) into the swing of things. As for being able to understand [livejournal.com profile] ericcoleman it's because he's a loud-mouthed hoodlum to begin with.

Thank you for being there at the concert and supporting them... I'm pretty proud of them, even if I do have to suffer them practicing in my living room all. the. damned. time. *grin*

I stay awake nights wondering how I could actually insult you.

I KNEW I wasn't imagining that hiss! I was talking with [livejournal.com profile] gamerchick about it afterwards, and she hadn't seemed to notice it.

IMO, the hiss compounded the inaudible vocals problem, since I could catch some of the words when the hiss wasn't hissing.

you must promise to wear pants

I figured I'd be there, but if there's even the slightest chance that you're going to be performing in a bikini, I may have to reconsider.

You and I both would be running very fast away from that. I personally think that [livejournal.com profile] gundo's pretty sexy but probably not pantsless on stage with the other three goofballs.
