And to repeat my comment from davidwilford's LJ... Sisko not only wins against Janeway, he also won the Kirk/Picard competition, imho. Although at least Kirk put up a good fight rather than trying to negotiate until they Borged him.

When I ask what ST Captain/Commander you would want to server under, I would have to say Sisko. He seems to understand the real value of all those that serve under him, not just the close seven.

iirc, Sisko is the only one of the bunch to have been married and had a kid, which he raised well. (If Kirk had kids, he never made it back to their planet...) I give him Parent Points as well as Commander Kudos.

Oh, and I loved his dad and the fact that his father wasnt a 2 dimensional character just tossed in to color the character in the forefront!

Indeed. DS9 fleshed out their characters well. It's hard to imagine Kirk's father (and I know a lot of Iowa farmers...).
