It would be nice to get a little payback. I did my undergraduate degree at the University of Kansas (only 20 miles from Topeka). When they had nothing better to do, they would come and protest our University Orchestra Concerts and any other events at the performing arts center. The really odd thing is that some friends told me that the protesters would actually attend the concerts after they were done protesting.

Wouldn't it be better to just ignore them? A mass protest at their place of business is likely to encourage them, not discourage them.

Nothing is going to discourage them, they are completely bugnuts ... but it will perhaps get folks motivated to stand up to them

I just don't see what it would achieve. "get a little payback"? It wouldn't bother WBC at all. "get folks motivated to stand up to them"? What does "stand up to them" mean?

Nothing is going to stop them, so long as they have enough money. Unless somehow they go bankrupt, they'll keep doing it. Everything else is just wind.

I'm not being contrary. Yes, they're batshit crazy. I know they're terrible people.

I'm saying that going out and protesting won't make any difference, won't have any effect on anything. If there will be some positive effect, then let me know.

"Letting people know what we think" isn't a positive effect, for example. "Standing up to them" isn't a positive effect. They're just activities. No effects come out of them in this case.

I would *love* to make that road trip with you, if you make it. Though, I have no money to pay for anything, unfortunately. But we can live off the land! Huntin' and scroungin' up our dinner, sleepin' in the back of the car!

Plus, it'd be nifty to be able to do some interviews and do a show about the march.
