If you ever are stuck in Iowa again, give me a call. I could have gotten you up to Minneapolis a day earlier. The MN roads were clear, but I doubt you could have gotten to them, not being from around these parts and all. My Mom moved to NC from Iowa 20 some years ago. There was an inch of snow the first winter she was there, and she was amazed that the state shut down. Didn't even slow her down.
thanks curmudgeon nov was quite nice compared to MARCH ! NOV was just cold and windy,. and my coat is insufficient for the states i've been travelling to for the last couple years. I'm gonna finally buy something seriously warm after xmas. however in march, i was there for a college gig adn then marscon. i got from the Minneapolis airport to mason city just in time to get snowed in, the college gig for noon the next day was canceled, the interestates were CLOSED for 3 days due to whiteout conditions, the electrical repairman were called off the job because of high winds and the TV kept flashing warnings not to venture out. i was quite bored, and driving a rented chevy aveo or cavalier oer something small and easily blown around. it took me a couple horus to dig the thing out fo the snow on sunday and i barely made it in marscon to perform and leave shortly after. it was a weird trip. nov. was better. it was not snowing and i combined it with windycon, which i got to spend more time at. but i'll keep that kind offer in mind, as i do seem to get to the midwest more in the last few years than i have in my entire life before that!
