First of all bad news. I hear that Boheme is closing in December. It has been a big part of my life for the last 7 years, and I don't know what I'll do. I will miss the place horribly.

I asked the audience what fret I should capo at. In case you don't know capo is musician for "can only play in one key".

Someone said 6th fret, I have no songs capo'ed at the 6th fret, so the next person said 4 and I went from there.

Woman I Want - 4th Fret
Product Might Be Hot - 3rd Fret (since someone called that out)
Standards - 2nd Fret (since it was a theme by then)
Nice Guys - 1st Fret
Low Self Esteem - No Capo

It was a storming good set, the best Boheme set in ages. And I talked to some folks who do a music evening every so often. I am so there.

I played with a lass called Cressida Johnstone. She was a singer/acoustic player and I backed her by playing a second acoustic.

In 2000 we supported Joan Armatrading on her small sell-out comeback UK tour. (9 or 10 dates, as I recall.)

We had arrangements and she had her capo settings etc. But I'd play non-capoed to enhance the differences between parts. I was, if you like playing the continuo.

Everything went well until Manchester Free Trade Hall (which seats about 2000).
Fourth song in, she mistakes her capo position and puts it on the 2nd fret rather than the 3rd. And I'm playing standard without a capo....desperately looking for the fret behind| the nut, which as we know, doesn't exist. My slightly addled brain went into overdrive and I found a way of faking it...sort of. But I don't think I've ever sweated quite as much.
When we came off stage she realised what she'd done, apologised, and bought me a beer; and I went off to look for a therapist.
