I think I will go to Mahtowa the first weekend of August, then take a few days to drive to Denver for Worldcon ...

I'd recommend going from Mahtowa to Denver via the Black Hills. Spend a couple of days in the Black Hills and Badlands National Park. Go see the Crazy Horse Memorial, Wind Cave, stuff like that. I LOVE the Black Hills.

The only problem with this plan is that it involves going to the Denver worldcon. I still have my mad on about how they got the con. (It's not every year that a bid beats out *two* better bids involving people I actually know.)
