[livejournal.com profile] eeknight asks about

1 cosmic wimpout
The greatest dice game ever. Dead simple to learn and wonderful fun to play. I'll make sure I have a set with me at Pythonacon as well

2 goon show
British comedy as we love it (Python and all) starts right here. Absurd, odd, silly and brilliant. If you are a Python fan and have not heard the Goons. you must. This was also the start of Peter Sellers career. More at the end of the list.

3 jodi lynn nye
Delightful writer, delightful person. The Xeno-Archeologist Traveling Road Show is a must see.

4 scruffy the cat
Great rootsy rock band from the 80s. I was in bands with a couple of guys in it when we all lived in Des Moines. I've been listening to them again recently and their stuff holds up very well. Charlie Chesterman went on to a solo career and has a half dozen or so records out, which are also great.

5 house concerts
I love doing house concerts and it's been too damn long since I've done one. With the new record out perhaps that will change.

6 steven wright
I lost a button hole.

7 spike milligan
The writer of the Goon Shows. During a tribute a tape of Prince Charles was played, in which the Prince talked about what a fan he was and how he considered Spike one of his close friends. Spike's response was "groveling little bastard" which prompted outrage throughout England. Charles couldn't stop laughing and went on the news to show the fax from Spike that read "I suppose a knighthood is out of the question now?"

Try calling information on that lost button hole. It may be behind the couch.

I have "One Soldier" and the "Special" DVDs if you want to borrow them. The Special is the same as his earlier VHS tape.

His "I Have A Pony" album is the same as has been available for a while. I have that one too.

Great Spike story. Says a lot for Charles, really.

I can't think of the last time I went to a house concert... hmmmm.

Not quite the case... I wiped the list last spring when the stalkers found my LJ. They appear to have lost interest in me, fortunately. Maybe I'll reconstruct the list.

"Shopping with Cordelia Vorkosigan" makes sense if you have read BARRAYAR by Lois McMaster Bujold. It involves coming home with a human head in the shopping bag, of someone who really needed killin'.

To each his own, belike.

Okay, I have updated my interests list, fire away.

It has been WAY too long since I last played a Cosmic Wimpout game. Even the ones run in the CW newsgroup has died out. I should remember to bring my dice with me to cons so I can get some impromptu games going (say to only 250 instead of 500 so the games don't take too long for people who also want to do other things).

Good thing I edited my interests today to remove a few I no longer am part of. I will provide my answers as soon as I finish my dinner

So i have to ask - what's Flynn doing on this list? Given the lack of tie with the main connector for the rest *grin*

alexander woolcott - i first encountered mention of da 'itto wabbit in Harpo Speaks,

and then our HS group did Man Who Came To Dinner. Critic, commentator, collector &

encourager of much fantastic fabulous talent of the 20's.

algonquin round table - area in NY's Algonquin Hotel known as the hangout of some of the

'best & brightest' during the 20's. Woolcott, Harpo, Dorothy Parker, the Kaufmanns, Connely,

Ross, and so many others....still wish i could curl up in the "listener's corner" with Harpo - much

has been recorded, but ever so much more (likely even more fascinating) has been lost.

errol flynn - to me THE swashbuckler...two of the first films in that group that i recall

seeing were Sea Hawk & the Adventures of Robin Hood, and i've still not seen

anyone do it better :)

harpo marx - Harpo Marx is one of the four Marx Brothers ;)

jack benny - another comedian who began in vaudeville, i think i first heard of him as a friend of george burns (who'd you think i was going to say?). Famous for his fiddle, car, and silence...when my folx moved to IL for a bit, the closest i could find to a bright spot was that we lived near his home town.

marx brothers - extraordinary comic family. Saw Night at the Opera somewhere at some point and fell in love :) Still haven't fallen out

rankin bass - HOLIDAYS! Classic, true holiday spirit :) Love love love. Best known for stop-motion animation, but also made several "traditional" as well.
