[livejournal.com profile] folkmew was talking about an odd dream she had last night, which prompted her to ask what was your oddest dream.

I was driving to high school with my friend Robyn, odd first of all since we were in college, second because it was my HS, which she didn't go to.

We were driving in her little Triumph Spitfire, which was real enough. We were driving through a jungle, which, considering I went to HS in Iowa, was not. We came to a clearing, which was very much like the front area of my HS, except for the whole jungle thing. We got out of the car and put on our coats, very normal, considering that the Spitfire was tiny, and we both wore big, bulky long coats, so we tended to take off out coats to drive. I said ...

"I hear lions"
To which she replied
"No, it's kittens". After which two kittens walked out of the the jungle.
"See" she said.
"No, it's lions" I said, after which two lions walked out of the jungle.

Then Siskel and Ebert broke in with

"Now, we've seen this before"

And they proceeded to critique my dream. I woke up right about then.

What was your oddest dream?

electric suspenders

Well, the one that people think is the weirdest is this one:

I have these really cool suspenders on - they are nifty rainbow ones - and they are attached to this belt and not my pants. The belt is battery powered and makes the electric suspenders do really neat tricks like spin and make noise out of a little horn and change colors and stuff, but the button is stuck and I can't turn them off, and then I start to panic because they won't come off and they are getting louder and louder, and just when I can't take it anymore the electric suspenders start to vibrate and now I am really freaking out, and I wake up and realize that my alarm clock is going off and I have knocked it into bed with me (which is where the vibrating came from).

Wonder what that means...? I had it about 6 months before I met Tim.

When I was four or five I had a dream that Winkies (the ones from the Oz movie - I was years away from reading the book) blew up King Friday's castle with a birthday cake and exploding candles.

That is King Friday from Mr. Rogers Land of Make Believe of course. And yes that movie gave me the creeps as a child.

In the middle of a heavy deadline at my job, which was desktop publishing (DTP), I took the evening off to go see Robocop with a friend and my BF (tall and skinny). That night, I dreamt that I used my DTP program to turn my BF into Robocop.

Fortunately, the deadline was only a couple of days later.

I dreamt I gave birth to a cat. I even called The Dream Doctor radio show, and he told me it was about a deep desire to have a baby. Meh, like I didn't know that already...I guess cats are fertility symbols in dreams.

For a while when I was in college, I had a lot of recurring dreams. I also had lots of prophetic dreams, and lucid (controlled) dreams. I was told that all those types are rare, and combining them is even more rare. But I usually win the prize for this one:

I was walking in the middle of a field, which looked very much like where I was going to college. I saw buildings in the distance, which looked very much like college buildings. The lights were on, and some of them had open doors. I looked and thought, "Oh, that's where I had the dream with the haunted house". Then, "that's where I had the dream with the roller coaster". Then, "that's where I had the one about the airplane, flying around, and landing in the middle of the campus square, even though there's no room for that, with all the trees here". Then, "that's where I was running away from somebody in the school". Then, "that's one of the places where I used to live".

Suddenly, I realized I had the power to choose which of the recurring dreams I was going to visit that night.

I woke up. I didn't have anymore recurring dreams again. Actually, I didn't have any dreams for about 2 weeks after that, and I thought that really sucked. These days, I don't seem to remember dreams much at all, but when I do, they are REALLY loaded full of symbolism, and are VERY real, and possible, and prophetic.

I also do bizarre dream analysis.

Yours means um... you're looking for the other white meat. Cats or Lions? Or maybe Dragons. Or Unicorns. And your friend is arguing with you about what's in the forest. Something about a diet, maybe? Yes, of course, the jungle is leaves, and you're tired of lettuce hiding what you really want-- real food! And Siskel and Ebert? Oh, they're telling you thumbs up or thumbs down over which one to eat, and which diet is best. Of course it's about a diet! You're talking about how small the car is, and how you had to take your coats off to fit inside!

No, of course you don't believe me... this dream stuff is crazy! :P
