I am also a survivor of Communty Theatre. What was the problem in Ames?

well ... first of all ... it's Ames

I was (at least in a small way) a pro some years ago. I like the inspired amateur, but the uninspired amateur annoys me. I did lights for your basic generic giggly british sex comedy. It ran 2:20. It should have been an hour shorter.

The second time I worked with a gerbil of a director who wanted realistic offstage lighting ... in a BLACK BOX THEATRE. To the delight of nearly everyone around, I made fun of him much of the time I was setting up lights (I didnt have to run them, I was going on the road twice during the run). There is a lot more to it, and my ex had an even worse time designing two sets for them.
