Here are the rules.

Answer only one quote.
If you answer more than one I will delete your reply. If there are quotes still not answered the next day I will open it up to any and all guesses.

Most weeks there is a theme. If there is not a theme I will tell you. The theme is open to guess even if you have guessed a quote.

The Theme has been guessed by [livejournal.com profile] barondave - it is Fantasy Films

Don't use a search engine (like this can be enforced). If you don't know, you don't know. Maybe next week you will.

And a new rule. You must either be signed into LJ, or say who you are (in case you are a friend of mine who is not on LJ). All anonymous answers will be deleted (hey, I'm obsessive, I want to know who guesses these)

01 You're a clever little man little master of the universe, but mortals are weak and frail. If their stomach speaks, they forget their brain. If their brain speaks, they forget their heart. And if their heart speaks ... they forget everything. [livejournal.com profile] vampyrslayr666 gets this one, it's The Thief of Baghdad
02 I am letting you into the secret of all secrets, mirrors are gates through which death comes and goes. Moreover if you see your whole life in a mirror you will see death at work as you see bees behind the glass in a hive. [livejournal.com profile] jrittenhouse gets this one, it's Orphée, Jean Cocteau's take on the Orpheus legend.
03 For another such kiss, I'd invent a whole continent. [livejournal.com profile] pheltzer gets this one, it's Seventh Voyage of Sinbad
04 For the moment, let them enjoy a calm sea, a fresh breeze and each other. First blood goes to [livejournal.com profile] jrittenhouse this week, it's Jason And The Argonauts
05 Oh, well, thank you very much, very nice of you. Your vote of confidence is overwhelming. [livejournal.com profile] mairzydotes gets this one, it's The Princess Bride
06 Your books are safe. While you're reading them, you get to become Tarzan or Robinson Crusoe. [livejournal.com profile] selenesue gets this one, it's The Neverending Story
07 You have to understand my position. I'm a coward. [livejournal.com profile] wyngarde gets this one, it's Labyrinth
08 There must be. It's not a place you can get to by a boat or a train. It's far, far away. [livejournal.com profile] devospice gets this one, it's The Wizard of Oz
09 Glad to see you, too. You didn't bring along anything to eat, by any chance? [livejournal.com profile] filkertom gets this one, it's Dragonslayer (and don't get me started about Caitlin Clarke)
10 And know this - if you fail, I will follow you the length of my days. And I will find you. [livejournal.com profile] ntrlstgrl gets this one, it's Ladyhawke

And, next week's quiz is a special one, a birthday greeting of sorts.

I've spotted several, but choose to identify No. 6: The Neverending Story.

Movies about wishes and wishing?

?? I'm signed onto LJ with my own account, I answered only one quote and took a stab at the theme. What did I do wrong?

Or was it me? I'm signed in. WTF?

Aiee. First thing, and I missed it. Sorry. Well, I'll stand by my first guess: #9 is Sir Ralph Richardson as Ulrich the Enchanter in Dragonslayer. And I really really really wish LJ would let you edit your comments. :-/

#10 - Rutger Hauer to Matthew Broderick in Ladyhawke when the hawk has been shot and Mouse is taking her to the monk to be healed.

Yay! I love love LOVE that movie...Rutger Hauer looked HOT, and even Matthew Broderick didn't suck. (Not a huge fan.) One of the best scenes EVER is the scene where they almost touch and the eyes are changing and then she flies away. Beautiful & heartbreaking.

Plus the monk - who the HECK played him I can't get to IMDB from work - he's freaking hilarious. "Walk on the left side!"

HA! Thank you! I never remember but I recognize it if someone reminds me.

Rumpole of the Bailey was also his work, wasn't it?

I am going to take a stab at the topic: movies that involve travelling to a fantastic land.

From: [identity profile] wildcard9.livejournal.com
Then how about "travelling to a foreign land" as the topic.

The answer for number one is, "The Thief Of Baghdad" - I watched this movie with my father, and now I own it as well.

I don't recognize the last quote, but I'm going to guess the theme: Movies with large flying creatures.

No? Then just Fantasy Films.

WE HAVE A WINNER !!!

Indeed ... fantasy films ... and I figger that the last one is going to give folks some problems, it's a little obscure

2 - The Cocteau version of the Orpheus story; I love Offenbach's version best. "Le coeur de roi du Beotia..."
