I went to see the Imax movie Everest this week. It was filmed during the disaster of 1996.

I would never want to climb the thing, but I would sure like to get to Rongbuk, just to see it.

Someone buy me this

There's a series on Discovery Channel called "Everest: Beyond the Limit." The Discovery Times channel is going to show the entire series on Sunday. It doesn't have the same level of tragedy of 1996, but it has about six hours of film, rather than three.

It really showed me why I was never going to climb Everest. I find it enough of a challenge to climb the hill at Berzerker (change in elevation: ~300 ft/100 meters) without sixty pounds of gear.

"This"

I would buy you that, but I fear that it would be no use for you. Seeing as the travel dates were from late August to late September...

The price probably includes time travel.

This: extra expenses occurred in case of natural disasters, rescue in case of emergency & tips.
Would worry me :)

It sounds like a wonderful trip, though I am far from confident I could walk 22 km at nearly 5000m. I've never been that high. The price is not too bad, though I notice that they don't mention the airfare in either the "included" or "not included" boxes. The airfare is probably as much as the rest of the trip.
