I now have my entire collection living with me, and in order, and easy to find. My 5 disc changer is hooked up to my TV (odd I know, but I have little room in my room, and it is a stereo TV) so I can indulge myself if I wish. I even put my DVDs in order.

So things are nice ... at least in my room. How is your room? How is the state of your music? Your DVD collection?

My entire CD collection lives on three computers (compressed), and in a few cardboard boxes (safely stored away, apart from the box my sister moved onto the floor before a flood...)

I'm looking forward to doing the same to my DVDs someday, when doing so will not lose me the extras.

In the meantime, I have to build a new shelf for more DVDs soon.

Drive costs have now fallen to the point where instead of compressed, I could take my collection and turn it into disk images, at the full CD bitrate and count. But that would take a lot of work, and call for upgrading two of the machines involved.

I had a DVD case made by some people who manufacture those metal cases for dragging around speakers/mixing desks and stuff. So its this free standing suitcase with a removable lid and a carry handle. I used to keep them alphabetized in there until one day someone kicked it over and they fell out and they were just stuck back in their randomly which is how they are now. With new purchases stacked on top.

CDs I bought a couple of CD tower stands, put all my CDs into them, then got annoyed at how much work it was each time I got a new CD to move things around even though I did leave spaces. Then, I was halfway through rotating the furniture of my room 90 degrees when my mother surprised me when she dropped off 'my life in boxes' that she had kept at her house on her way to nepal. So now those CD stands are on the far side of the room behind me behind these stacks of boxes. All new CDs since then have made piles around the room, one on my Computer desk, 3 at various places on Bookshelves.

We've been trying to get this frenorking move from the north side to the house on east 83rd street (in one of the NICEST neighborhoods I have ever lived in - and I grew up in Oak Park, so that's saying something!) for several MONTHS.

Yesterday, I moved the first of the actuall BOXES of stuff over there.

Books. LOTS of books.

My back is NOT happy about it, even though my brain is saying: "YEAH BO!! We're FINALLY GETTING THIS TRAIN MOVING!!"

As to the state of my rooms?

One word comes to mind:

CHAOS!

Ten more"

Without Maxwell Smart and Agent 99 there to thwart it!

Happy HoliDAZE!

I have all my music copied to iTunes (YIPPIE), took a long time to get done. The DVD's had been somewhat in order but........gotta re-organize our side room before I can say they're in order again.

my room is a mess. i'm hoping to clean after i get back from vacation.

my dvds are somewhat scattered, but my cds are all in a box. the same box they've been in for maybe five or six years. there are a few stragglers, but most of my music collection lives in an avon box.

My CD's are in order in a drawer. I don't have all that many. But yesterday I moved all my albums to a more accessible shelf. I finally got a reciever that works and have a turn table that works but needs a new needle. I didn't put the records in order. They are mostly my dads with a few wierd seeming ones left by his ex wife. He was a hippie. She was a small town teenie bopper with no real imagination. So it's bobbie vee and a bunch of one country guy I have never heard of.
I was stunned to discover the copy of Free to Be You And Me was still totally playable. When I found it bits of plaster came out of the jacket with it. I washed it with dish soap. Not a skip. YAY
I was trying to transfer my cd's to a used Mac Nik gave me, but the mac turned out to need more work.

Way to find something people want to talk about.

The DVDs are mostly on a single shelf and findable.

The CDs are scattered all over and we really don't even know what we own and what we don't in many cases. I suppose I should get an indexing program...

music--slowly making its way to the 300 disc changer. i thought this 300 disc changer would be a great and wonderful thing until i realized that i had to pick out only 300 discs to put in it!!

DVDs--as usual, ones we've both watched are in alphabetical order on the shelves; ones we haven't are under the TV.
