So I was going through the list of songs by other people that I have at least halfway learned. I can do most of these with my book handy, a few are pretty sketchy still, but getting there.

This from the guy who for years said he would never learn a song by anyone else ...

Where the hell is Stairway to Heaven???? i would think that'd be the first one on your list.

I don't know most of the songs on that list, so perhaps I'm not one to comment. Still, I would have pegged you with either Allan Sherman ("One Hippopotami") or Leonard Cohen ("Everybody Knows") or even The Roches ("Mr. Sellack").

Aside: I never tracked down the actual references, but I always thought that "The Philosopher's Song" was from Oxford and MP slipped an old college drinking song into their sketch. I could be wrong, or not Bruce.

That was me (as you know from my vain attempt to fix things).

Well, everyone credits Idle, so I will too. I know they drew on their Oxford days. (Hasty Pudding? No, that's Harvard...)

I've always felt that you would do a good job smushing together "Harper Valley PTA" and "Mississippi Squirrel Revival". Dunno what that would wind up being. I'll wait.

Sheesh

I'm surprised at the lack of Tonio K.

I can honestly say that I have more fun with H-A-T-R-E-D than any other song by any other artist.
