Finally, some comments.

Friday
I had not heard Pug & Shaya. Lovely stuff. I missed a bit because I was pacing in the hall, since we went on right after. I need to hear more.

I love playing music with Lizzie. It's even better when the audience is so with us the entire way. Thank you for listening.

Heather was brilliant as always. I can't begin to say how big of an influence she has been on us. She played some of my favorites and a couple of songs I had not heard her do in the past. And, they will be at our house next month!

We hung out with some friends for a bit and then crashed. The trip up took a lot out of us.

Saturday
I had never seen Gary do an entire show, and it's about time I did. Fun, charming, silly, serious. Even if he had those two rather disreputable folks backing him up near the end. Geeze, what sort of person would play with them?

Piers blew me away. I wish we lived in the same country. He and Lizzie and I would be so annoying!

Copy Red Leader. Ok, I am a rock guy, I think that is obvious. I love it when there are rock bands in filk. These folks are one of the best. I want more music!

s00j. We worked out that we have known each other for 8 years now. We met at Spirit Awakening end of March 2006. I have seen her so many times and she continues to amaze me.

We got some downtime and then went and spent some money at the Interfilk Auction.

The highlight of the circle for me was playing Roman Wall Blues with Jason and gundo (yeah, when they play with me it's cool, elsewhere it's disreputable). I can't begin to say how much I miss playing music with them.

Oh, a quick aside. Karen Linsley. Oh my … the song about the Ent and the Whomping Willow broke me. The song she did in circle that night … yeah, that too. I think I have a new favorite fannish songwriter.

Lizzie sang with nearly everyone, she's like that. She and Piers were harmony sluts together!

We crashed out again fairly early, 1am or so.

Sunday
I only saw the person who won the songwriting contest. I can't think of her name, but her song, about Biology, was marvelous.

The Hall Of Fame concert was great. As always, I stole lots of ideas from Moonwulf's guitar playing. Oh, and I have a Toyboat arrangement for one of his songs. I still do that.

We had dinner with a bunch of folks and then came back for the Dead Penguin. Played some music, listened to a lot of music. And had to get to bed at a reasonable time.

Monday
14 and a half hours in the car. 850ish miles. We returned home to berserk kitties, who may forgive us someday, and our own bed. It is so good to be home, but we still miss all of the music, all of the people. Thank you for sharing this weekend with us. Thank you for making us so welcome.

The winner of the Penguin song contest was Jill O'Craven.

(And I'll never argue with anything nice you say about Karen...having her teach me how to play some of her songs has done wonders for my understanding of song structure.)

Thanks! Enjoyed your set too, and it was nice getting a chance to chat over dinner.
