I certainly was. I used it as the general format for the letter. My version wasn't quite as ... well ... forceful, but neither am I. It was a great help. Thank you

Hmm, i considered that version to be "professionally forward" - polite, but obviously wanting to initiate a business relationship.

FORCEFUL would have been "hire me to play in your place, you'll make huge money, get oodles of customers, and i'll burn it down if you don't".

It did get me to write it in a way that I wouldn't have before. More direct and more to the point.

I've played these three, doubt I will again. A friend, Steve West, Becca and I were the first musicians to play Fireroast. Fireroast and Tillie's are each about five blocks from my house in different directions. They are all three small rooms. They don't pay the performers, they are play for tips venues. Of course you can sell CDs as well.

There are several Dunn Brothers around the cities in a variety of sizes, I did play a resophonic showcase at one in St. Paul off of Snelling. Don't remember the cross street. Don't know their performer policies, but it was a good room. The stage was small but it was an actual stage (unlike the other three in your list). Near several colleges. Actually, you've reminded me to look into Riverfolk playing there.

I'm starting out in the Cities, and such places seem to be a good place to start. I'm not going to get into a place that pays at this point since I'm pretty much an unknown up there. And I'm willing to play for tips ... I've done it before and will undoubtably do it again.

The last time I played Dunn Bros I was in places that are pretty much as you describe. They aren't going to put me in a prime place until I can prove that I can pull a crowd.
