I need help. What would you consider the worst song (or songs) of the 80s. I'm talking terrible songs that sold bunches. Not novelty songs, not songs that were meant to be bad, or parodies or such things, Songs like Too Shy by Kajagoogoo ... terrible stuff

I'm goig to do a similar post for the 90s ...

Actually, I like "Too Shy"...I even have it on my iPod...

For some reason "Dance Hall Days" bored me, even though Wang Chung's hit before it ("Don't Let Go") I loved. To each their own I guess.

There really isn't much from the 1980s that I outright hated.

You Are an Obsession. I can't remember the band name. Also has something about "...like a butterfly. A white butterfly. I will possess you and capture you..."

I hate that song.

Ya know... I think I've been there done this before dear... and once again you are making me wade through the terrible 80's pop scene I was ambarrassingly a part of... damn! And know... if you don't know the song I WILL NOT hum a few bars! Thppft!

Karma Chameleon of course babe!
Kokomo
Straight Up
Love Shack
Super Freak
Conga
It's Raining Men... yea yea I know...

That's all for now... gotta stop before one of these suckers sets up residence in my brain playing over and over again in and endless loop. Karma Chameleon... that damn little bitch... is trying.

Whoops. Corrected at the last minute -- I was going to give a hands-down worst of the decade to "You Light Up My Life" (Debby Boone), but in checking back with the CNN article on the worst song ever (http://edition.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/Music/04/25/worst.songs/index.html), I was reminded that it was from 1977, not the 80s.

I think I've blanked out much of the decade, including Haircut 100, Flock of Seagulls, and most of the other awful electronica. (I do remember Thomas Dolby; wish I'd seen his recent tour.)

Good luck with the survey!

"Everybody Have Fun Tonight," by Wang Chung.
"All Night Long (All Night)" by Lionel Richie
"Electric Avenue" by Eddy Grant
"Sussudio" by Phil Collins
"We Built This City" by Starship
"Rock Me Amadeus" by Falco
"That's What Friends Are For" by Dionne Warwick
"Walk Like An Egyptian" by The Bangles
"Simply Irresistible" by Robert Palmer (my feelings about this may have more to do with the video, which I hated).

Just about anything by Prince, Culture Club, Michael Jackson, or Cindi Lauper

I've always hated "She Blinded Me With Science", but I think I'm in the minority on that one for some reason.

No need to worry. On Friday I spent hours talking inside a bizarre fake taqueria where bad 80s pop played nonstop in the background, therefore allowing me to shove out this epic list of crap.
