So I am here in
chirosinger's front room.
Coming up to see Harlan Ellison was definitely worth it. He was hysterical. In the film that preceded him Robin Williams described him as a frustrated Borscht Belt comic in the body of a science fiction author. Pretty much spot on.
I do have to talk about one thing that happened on the way. I found the perfect CD store. In Mason City Iowa. CDGBs ... you have to love a store that has 20 some titles by the Strawbs in stock. You want 70s brit folk rock ... they have what you want in stock.
I could go broke in an hour there.
So
chirosinger,
chasophonic, and
bonz_lizard and I hung out for a bit at the hotel and then
chirosinger and I came back here where I was assaulted by the most dreadful of beasts. She and I then talked till sometime around 2, which included playing some songs and then talking some more. She seem to be fixated on some canadian guy ... I'm not sure why. But she was awful darn happy last night. ::insert happy puppy dance for her and Graham here::
Sleep happened, I was assaulted by the ferocious beasts again this morning and now she is going to make me drink some odd concoction ...
So it's been a good weekend so far, and the weekend hasn't even started
more later

Date: 2006-04-14 05:54 pm (UTC)This is, of course, Meredith Willson's home town. As such, it is the nearest real-world equivalent to River City.
It makes sense that, a century or so after the Music Man hit town, the people there are still in love with music, so that it's a perfect place for the perfect CD store.
The big question: Do they still have a pool hall?
