If anyone has any questions about any of these ... ya know I love to talk about music ... They are all records that had a profound effect on me at some point in my life

SAHB- genius. Genesis- fabtastic. Tull- awesome. The Buzzcocks- splenderific.

The Jam - total crap.

Who wants a third rate Steve Marriot impersonator when Marriot himself was only the second best singer/songwriter in his group, who inturn were just a second rate Who, who inturn were nothing compared to the almighty godlike Kinks?

Weller is just a lousy rip-off with a fancy hairdo.

"Village Green preservation society", "Ogden's nut gone flake", "the who sell out"- now those are UK mod albums worth shouting about!!!

Thanks. I was trying to think of "influential" albums and went back to my childhood. I think I still have the incredibly scratched 78 of A Child's Introduction To Jazz with Bob Keeshan (aka Captain Kangaroo). Astonishingly, I found the mp3 files online here (second one on the list). I wouldn't have even looked if it weren't for your posting. In retrospect, a bit anti-semitic (they don't even talk about Jewish/Eastern European influences on jazz; and I haven't heard it for 40 years...), but still a trip down memory lane. I hope it stands the test of time.

Now... if I can only dig up Tubby the Tuba (which I saw somewhere online a while back) and find the Mousketeer 78 that we played all the time ("Beauty is as beauty does, mark well what I do say").

When I was six, figuring out the gearing to get the 78 player to play 45s and 33 1/3rds was major geekery. It was just a little switch, but it seemed like high tech at the time.

No "Life in the Foodchain"?

Damn - I forgot Quadrophenia on mine. Who's Next, too.

I hear that. (No pun intended.) I lack your restraint, in terms of limiting it to twelve.

:::scrambles back to add "A Trick of the Tail" to his ever-growing list:::
