Yeah... I remember his show after his self-immolation while freebasing. He lit a match and said, "What's this?" *makes running motions with the match* "It's Richard Pryor running down the street!"
Yeah, I can't think of a comedian more introspective and self-effacing than Richard Pryor. All the follies of humanity, he found in his own heart.
It was more than that, it was him acknowliging the jokes that had been told about him. He then took it even further. It is still one of the most brutally funny routines I have ever heard.
