Faves
3. Village Green Preservation Society - The Kinks
Sheer Brilliance from probably England's greatest songwriter of the 20th Century
6. Killer - Alice Cooper
Their best record.
7. We're Only In It For The Money - Mothers of Invention
Zappa was a massive influence on me from a really young age
13. Electric Warrior - T-Rex
My favorite T-Rex record. Great slamming pop music
21. Sunburst Finish - Be Bop Deluxe
The most consistent of their amazing run of records.
27. All The Young Dudes - Mott The Hoople
I prefer the next record, the semi-self-titled Mott, but this one saved them as a band and got them worldwide notice
31. Stormcock - Roy Harper
In a very strong career, probably Roy's masterpiece and one of the greatest brit-folkie records of all time.
43. SF Sorrow - The Pretty Things
The first concept album, Townsend listened to this constantly when he was writing Tommy.
46. Marquee Moon - Television
Punk ... hardly ... but amazing, eloquent art rock framed by twin lead guitars. One of the few records from the era that I still listen to a lot
56. The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys - Traffic
Before Steve Winwood smoothed himself out of existence
57. By The Light of The Moon - Los Lobos
Nothing howls like the wolf.
58. Who Came First - Pete Townshend
Townsend's 3rd solo record, but the other two were very limited releases. If there was any doubt who WAS the Who, this dispells it.
61. Pure Pop For Now People - Nick Lowe
Nick at his most wise-ass
62. Outlaws - Outlaws
Southern rock with soul and heart and great guitars.
67. Good Old Boys - Randy Newman
Randy takes on the south, and offends a lot of folks with the lead off song Rednecks. As usual most of the audience just dosn't get it
68. Kimono My House - Sparks
My 2nd favorite Sparks LP, back when they were a rock band.
72. Gorilla - Bonzo Dog Band
Neil Innes started here, you know him as the guy who wrote the Rutles (unless you are as cool as I think you are and know him from here too, and Python)
73. Do You Believe In Magic - Lovin' Spoonful
John Sebastion wrote wonderfully breezy songs, still does.
74. Tres Hombres - ZZ Top
howhowhowhow, do you know what I'm talking about? Nope ... no clue, but it dosn't matter when boogie swings this hard.
75. Nighthawks at The Diner - Tom Waits
My favorite of the early Waits records. As always, in a live setting he shows that he is a frustrated standup comic.
81. Everywhere At Once - The Plimsouls
THE GREATEST POWER POP ALBUM OF ALL TIME !!!
82. Howlin' Wind - Graham Parker AND THE RUMOUR (how they forgot the last part ... geeze)
Great blue-eyed soul from one of the finest bands of the 70s
89. Desolation Boulevard - Sweet
A mixture of two british LPs into one brilliant american LP. Another I can still listen to decades later
90. Moss Elixir - Robyn Hitchcock
Not my favorite Robyn record, but an awfully good one.
97. This Was - Jethro Tull
See my Robyn comment.

100. Real Life - Magazine

Despise
Ok, I do have to rant a little ...
4. White Light/White Heat - Velvet Underground
I hated the Velvets then, I still do now. Posey NYC decadence bores me to tears.
20. The Captain and Me - The Doobie Brothers
Has there been a worse big time band than the simply awful Doobies ??? Even worse than Boston
39. Fear of Music - Talking Heads
The most overrated band of the new wave era. I am still waiting for them to write a 2nd melody line.
