toss-down, actually. At least, I imagine they're falling out of the plane because some right-thinking person tossed them both out...In fact in my imagination that right thinking person is me, laughing with glee.
(and the sax doesn't matter; gravitic acceleration is the same no matter what the mass of the body is, and the terminal velocity is going to be based on mass density, which is going to be so close to the same that it would make no difference unless they were falling from orbit. They'll hit the ground at the same time to resounding cheers.)
Although you've failed to figure in wind resistance. I can't remember which, but I think it's Kenny G who has the "Mass 'o' Hair (tm)" That might act as a wind baffle just enough to marginally slow his acceleration. So while they'll both reach terminal velocity and make a satifying splotch on the ground... Michael Bolton will get there fractionally sooner. Assuming my memory of who has the hair is correct.
no, that's what I meant about the density...they're so close to the same density, they'd have to be falling a lot farther than a plane can go to make it make a difference. And they both have the Massive Hair gene.
wind resisitance is a function of surface area vs mass. In other words: density. That's what controls terminal velocity: The point when wind resistance balances gravity and you stop accerating.
There was a time and a place where I would have actually tried to figure out their respective masses and drag coefficients and tried to math this out. But... well that's about 15 years in my past. In HS we were on a band trip to Toronto and a bunch of us had just taken Physics so we attempted to figure out whether a human falling of the CN Tower observation deck would reach terminal velocity before going splat. Yes we were geeks.
For reference yes... you would reach terminal velocity about 100 feet off the ground
Although to be completely of service to mankind... all of their records should be collected and tossed out of the same plane so that they can share the fate as their creators.
I'm not quite sure what the point of all this is; I have great difficulty coming up with the energy to dislike 1/5 of as many songs as the huge number you have posted (and you also include a bunch of songs I really, really like). I am really, though, just noting one error on your long list: "Walking on Sunshine" is not by K.C. and the Sunshine Band, but by Katrina and the Waves. (Admittedly, KatW have some better songs.) By the way, have you ever heard Melanie's recording of "Ruby Tuesday"? It may or may not be one of the worst songs ever (although I like the original Rolling Stones recording) but is an utterly awful rendition thereof. And it's on every Melanie "greatest hits" compilation ever made!!!
Many of those lists are not mine (I don't think I have made an actualy list of songs I dislike, but this LJ has been dead for awhile). And many folks include songs that I like as well, but this is a place to vent.
I actually love Melanie, but that certainly falls into the list of worst cover songs ever, and that is certainly good enough for this LJ.
